Nursery Admission 2023/24

NURSERY CLASS INFORMATION

All 3 and 4 year old children in England are entitled to receive 15 hours per week/570 hours per year of free learning. At Christ Church School this consists of 3 hours every morning or afternoon sessions.

The maximum places available in the nursery in any academic year is 26 FTEs (full-time equivalent places).

Children are eligible for the 15 free hours entitlement the term following their third birthday, giving three possible points of entry to the nursery in any academic year.

Some working parents may be eligible to claim for an additional 15 hours per week funded childcare. Parents can check this on the Government website at:

https://childcare-support.tax.service.gov.uk/par/app/applynow Eligible parents receive a unique reference called a DERN Code which must be given to the school on the 30 Hour Extended Eligibility Confirmation Form.

Parents who do not meet the free childcare entitlement can request a full-time Early Years place. This will incur a top-up fee of £50 per week (excluding lunch costs) for the additional 15hrs, subject to availability.

Nursery applications will only be considered for a full-time place where a parent has completed the school’s Full-time Place Supplementary Application Form giving reasons and providing the additional supporting evidence requested.

Notes:

Parents and children are welcome to visit our Nursery before applying. Open Day visits are held throughout the year.
All children with allocated places will need to complete a short period of induction before attending complete sessions every day (part/full-time). In some circumstances, and based on the child’s needs, it may be deemed necessary to extend this period; parent/carer may be expected to stay on the premises until a child has settled.
A more formal meeting with parents of new pupils for the nursery is held during the second half of the summer term when information about arrangements for each child’s admission and to meet staff.
Nursery staff may make a home visit prior to children starting in the Autumn term, and where known, for those children who will be admitted later in the year. We regret that staff are unable to make home visits for any admissions confirmed after this time.
